Art StuffI have decided to make prints of some of the pictures I have, mostly the ones that I can re-photograph/scan and get high-quality images of. I'd love to make more of some of my most popular pictures, but I no longer own the originals. Oh well, more motivation to make new art that is even more awesome.
I will admit right now that I am quite unsure about pricing. I know for sure that I am going to stick with smaller photo prints and greeting/post cards for now and expand it if I get any requests to put my art on a specific item or make a specific size.
Today, I noticed that deviantART is offering free shipping on prints, so I decided to snag that opportunity to get some small 5" x 5" lustre prints to see how they turn out. I'd have gotten the other varieties, but my current budget will not allow for that. Maybe I'll post a mini-review after I get them.
I have one picture that has been photographed that I can't post yet. It's for one of my friends and I don't want to spoil it before it arrives in the mail. There is one picture that needs to be photographed, and another art present that is in progress.
I am deciding if I want to make an art blog on an exterior site. I already have my account and the blog itself about halfway done, but I don't want to lose track of stuff and get overwhelmed. Hmmmm....
Oh, yes, I need to mention that I got some mat board a while back. One of the local art shops cuts their left over mat board into standard sizes and sells it for ridiculously cheap. I'm going to be doing some of my new projects on this mat board as an experiment.
Life StuffI have been spending the last couple of months slaving over the task of finding a part-time job or two and signing up for scholarships. Finances are tight and my dA subscription was my Christmas present. I actually had no idea about the buy one, get one thing that was going on, so I was all, WTF, when I saw it on my page. I want to make good use of it, haha.
After many hours of job hunting and creating a resume with some substance, I have managed to get a temp job! I completed the paperwork today and now I've got my fingers crossed that I get called in. I will continue to look for other opportunities, but I am going to take this moment to feel some pride.
The job finding process has been an, um, interesting self-growth experience. Who'da thought that something that is meant to be a concise one or two pages would be such a pain in the ass? I can write 20-page college papers on relatively short notice, no problem, but somehow writing about and remembering all of the stuff I did is much more likely to induce excessive frustration. I'd better be decent at writing these things once I'm done with my latest revision.
On a random note, I was riding the bus today and as I observed passengers get on and off, I wondered what each person might have been doing today. I got a small amount of appreciation for the diversity of our world and how each tiny component adds up to the complex whole that is the Earth.
I have no clue if that makes any sense. Most of the stuff I think about tends to stay in my head, but as a part of my 2013 resolutions, I want to put more of that into writing or spoken word. I'd like to share more of myself with people in that respect and to just have something to keep track of the crap my brain generates.
